On the occasion of our recent accession to Fevad as an associate member, we were pleased to take part in the association’s general meeting on July 10, 2024, as well as the conference on generative AI and ecommerce. Patrick Martin, President of the Mouvement des Entreprises de France, welcomed participants by sharing his assessment of the current political uncertainties, which come at a time when the economy was already very fragile. Most investments by non-financial companies are currently declining, whereas we should be investing at least 10% more per year to achieve the goals of decarbonizing the economy. What’s more, if France and Europe don’t get their act together quickly on AI investments, we’re going to miss the boat. International competition is intensifying rapidly and violently. In terms of the technological transition with AI, the MEDEF has decided to launch an AI Tour de France next autumn to raise awareness among companies to take account of the subject of artificial intelligence. We need to accelerate because this is going to become discriminating. Those who don’t adopt AI in their companies will be downgraded.
Marc Lolivier, General Delegate of Fevad, then introduced the round table by sharing an interesting statistic: 71% of ecommerce companies claim to use at least one generative AI solution, compared with 7% in France and 12% in Germany across all sectors. The round table featured Nicolas Bouzou, economist & essayist, Julia de Funès, Doctor of Philosophy & essayist, and Thomas Métivier, CEO of Cdiscount and CEO of CNOVA.
