What better way to kick off our spring seminar than with a local, organic and eco-responsible brewery? Founded in 1999 in Villeneuve d’Ascq, the Moulins d’Ascq brewery has been brewing 100% organic beers since its inception. More recently, the brewery moved to brand-new premises designed to be thermally neutral. Co-manager Alban Decoster explained the brewery’s eco-responsible approach, including the reuse of beer bottles, green energy with Enercoop and the use of electric cars for sales staff.

After working all morning on the agency’s new offer, we were then able to visit the production site and discover all the secrets of beer-making!

In the afternoon, we plunged into the world of the social and solidarity economy (SSE) at the Bouquinerie du Sart, a work-based integration association that since 2015 has been offering work to people housed in shelters. The Bouquinerie team collects 6,000 books a day, which are sorted and sold online and in the 500 m2 bookshop. Marine Buriez, co-founder of the Bouquinerie, welcomed us into their brand-new café to explain how the association works. More recently, a thrift shop was launched on the same premises.

Then we got to work sorting books and clothes, and putting things away.

At the end of the day, it was a very full day, with plenty of inspiration for our own CSR approach. Many thanks to the Moulins d’Ascq and Bouquinerie du Sart teams for their excellent welcome!
