The last six months at Optimal Ways have been an exciting adventure, rich in learning, development and practical experience. I’ve had the exceptional opportunity to delve deeper into the technical aspects of digital analysis as a Junior Digital Analysis Consultant, collaborating on major projects alongside seasoned experts. As well as reinforcing my interest in data analysis, this internship gave me the technical skills and confidence to achieve my future academic and professional goals, which include a specialization in data analysis and artificial intelligence at EDHEC.

The beginning of my adventure

When I started working at Optimal Ways, I was new to the complex field of digital analytics. Although the technical nature of this sector was both intimidating and fascinating, the structured environment at Optimal Ways offered me all the tools and support I needed to succeed. As part of the technical team, I was encouraged from the outset to take on stimulating challenges, surrounded by professionals ready to guide and direct me. This immersion enabled me to lay a solid foundation for my future projects.

Key projects and achievements

  • Ensuring accuracy – Tagging plans and site mapping: One of my main responsibilities was to ensure the quality and accuracy of website tagging plans, which serve as the foundation for analytics tags, consent management systems and customer data platforms (CDPs). I ensured that site mapping corresponded perfectly to these tagging plans, enabling reliable data collection and analysis. By focusing on this aspect, I helped establish an accurate data flow to support informed decision-making.
  • Automation of tagging plan verification with ObservePoint: One of my most significant contributions was the automation of tagging plan verification for one of our customers using ObservePoint. I replaced a semi-automated process with a fully automated flow, dramatically reducing quality control time while improving tag tracking accuracy. This initiative ensured that key user interactions, such as consent management, product searches, cart additions and purchase tunnel steps, were seamlessly tracked on their regional sites. It not only improved efficiency, but also preserved the integrity of analytical processes.
  • Consent management platform implementation: I played a key role in the implementation and configuration of a Consent Management Platform (CMP), ensuring compliance with global data protection regulations such as the RGPD, while maintaining an optimal user experience. This project required great attention to technical detail and close collaboration with teams to balance regulatory requirements and user satisfaction.
  • Post-implementation validation: Ensuring the accuracy of data collection was paramount. I carried out thorough post-implementation validations of the analytical tags, meticulously testing their deployment on the websites. This process ensured accurate data reporting for dashboards, avoiding discrepancies and reinforcing the reliability of customers’ analytical systems.
  • Audits and data visualization: I performed comprehensive data quality audits for clients, identifying and resolving discrepancies to deliver consistent, high-quality data. To support these audits, I used Google Sheets and Looker Studio, transforming raw data into actionable insights. These dashboards have become essential tools for customers, enabling them to make informed decisions with confidence and clarity.

Technical tools – Beacon management and analysis

  • Streamlining tag management processes: As part of my internship, I configured and debugged advanced tags using Tealium IQ and Google Tag Manager. This involved working with JavaScript and HTML to create robust tracking systems for customer websites, integrating media tags such as Actito and Antvoice, to track key interactions and ensure accurate data collection to meet requirements.
  • Optimizing analytics with state-of-the-art tools: When it comes to analytics, I’ve used Google Analytics to study user behavior and website performance, providing actionable insights for customer decision-making. In addition, I created web analytics with ObservePoint for customers. These analytics validated tags and simplified the quality control process, ensuring consistent data reliability across different platforms.
  • Results achieved through key achievements: Through the implementation and optimization of advanced tracking and analysis systems, I have improved data accuracy and optimized operational workflows. My efforts not only enhanced the user experience by addressing critical issues, but also contributed to greater efficiency and reliability of data-driven strategies.

A culture of learning and development

Beyond the technical aspects, Optimal Ways offered an environment conducive to all-round development. One of the most memorable experiences was the SCABE training, an interactive and engaging session that enabled me to discover strengths I didn’t know I had, and to gain a better understanding of my personal and professional capabilities. What’s more, this training gave me the tools to better express these strengths in future professional contexts. Other highlights included seminars and team events, including an exciting session in Belgium and another in Berthen, a charming French country village. These gatherings were a harmonious blend of learning and conviviality, offering enriching perspectives from industry experts while strengthening bonds with my colleagues.

A solid foundation for the future

This internship was instrumental in shaping my aspirations and preparing me for future challenges. Working in the technical team exposed me to real-life problem-solving situations, customer interactions and cutting-edge tools. I realized that mastering technical skills at this stage of my career is crucial, as it enables me to contribute effectively to my team and support my future managers in developing innovative solutions. The constant support, feedback and advice from my mentors created an environment where I was able to flourish. Whether it was brainstorming technical solutions or learning new skills through hands-on experience, every interaction added value to my journey.

Personal growth and reflection

Looking back, I feel a deep gratitude for the opportunities offered during this internship. The hands-on experience, combined with mentoring and exposure to various projects, boosted my confidence considerably. The skills I acquired – ranging from technical mastery to teamwork and adaptability – will undoubtedly serve me well in my future professional and academic endeavors. This internship has also kept me constantly curious to continue learning and evolving.

A rewarding experience

In conclusion, I can confidently say that my time at Optimal Ways has been a perfect blend of challenge, growth and fun. From solving technical problems for prestigious customers to discovering my personal strengths through training and team events, every moment has been a learning opportunity. I’m extremely grateful to my mentors and colleagues for their unwavering support, and to Optimal Ways for providing an environment where young professionals like me can flourish.
